How to stay motivated when you’re trying to lose weight?

Nov 18, 2020

You’re here because you made a brave decision to finally lose weight for good and become the best version of yourself. Good for you! It will benefit not only your appearance (hello, swimsuit season!) but, most importantly, your health. Did you know that diet-related diseases are the biggest killer in this country? Diabetes, cardiovascular conditions – in many cases they could have been prevented with a change of diet. So welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

We’re excited to help you during the process and to show you different ways to make it enjoyable. Yes, enjoyable! We know many people perceive dieting as a necessary evil to achieve their goals. But we’re here to change that! Our Spring Hill Weight Loss Clinic welcomes everyone who wants to lose weight in a healthy and effective way. If you decide to follow our advice, you will never find yourself ‘dieting’ again. Instead, you will develop a completely new, exciting lifestyle that will get you where you want to be – healthy, gorgeous and happy. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

Okay, so you’ve already made the most important first step – the decision to make a change. From our experience, things can now go two different ways. You will either start making smarter decisions about food, and become conscious of the importance of being active OR you will try to turn your life upside down overnight and give up all your efforts after a week of trying. The statistics are pretty depressing – 70% of people give up their fitness plan within a few months. But don’t let that discourage you. You can, and you WILL, be the exception. And the key to success is a combo of motivation & determination. Whenever one of them fails, the other keeps you going.

So how to stay motivated? You know that feeling of initial excitement about starting something new? We’re sorry to tell you: It won’t last forever. Nevertheless, there are things you can do to keep yourself motivated, and we’ll discuss them all here.

1. For the Before and After photos

Once you start to notice the change, your motivation grows. Eating healthy and being active becomes a part of your normal routine, and it’s not even an effort anymore. If you have a low moment, just think about the fabulous pictures of your makeover you can post on Facebook for everyone to see (and prove wrong those who doubt you!) or simply put them on your fridge door to make you proud of yourself every single day.

2. For the satisfaction of not giving up

Believe us, there’s nothing more rewarding that the sense of doing something for yourself against the odds. Yes, there are going to be bad days, but the fact that you can still make healthy choices and get closer to your goal is one of the biggest achievements you can make. That feeling when your determination is stronger than your excuses – priceless!

3. For being able to say ‘I did it!’

How many times have you (unsuccessfully) tried to lose weight? Can you imagine the feeling of finally being able to stand in front of the mirror and be able to say that you did it? Visualize this. Remind yourself of that feeling whenever you feel like quitting.

4. For fitting in your favorite jeans again

We all have that pair of favorite jeans that we don’t necessarily fit into anymore. They sit at the bottom of the closet, waiting for better times. But what is a better time to wear clothes that make you look great than now?! Take those jeans out of your closet and try them on every single week. With each week of healthy eating, they’ll feel better and better. And that’s the best motivation you can get.

5. For feeling strong, fit and healthy

Ever feel like you’re out of breath, but you literally just climbed one flight of stairs? Ever had to tell your kids you can’t play with them any longer because you’re too tired? Well, those problems can be easily fixed with the right kind of food and exercise. So whenever you feel like you’re lacking energy, just keep going – you’ll get there!

And there you have it: 5 ways to stay motivated on your journey to a better self. We hope you will find these useful, and that they will help you achieve your goals. If you need advice or help with finding a food plan that works for you, we are here for you at our Spring Hill Weight Loss Clinic!
